The Lift He Did Not Choose And The Pole It Built
Russell vs Leclerc. Qualifying. Austrian GP 2026. Verstappen crashed at Turn 9. The yellow flag came out. Russell lifted — not by choice, but by regulation — and the battery harvested what the throttle had surrendered. Three hundred metres later, at the exit of Turn 10, the energy the flag had forced him to save became the speed that won pole.
